I've been chasing a little crawling monkey all over the place. Yep, it's official. He's full-on, trying-to-escape-from-the-room crawlng. Almost like he turned nine months and a switch got flipped, and he suddenly noticed that there were lots of things around the room more interesting than the toys on his play mat. Many of you have seen him in action over the webcam, but I hope to have some video soon. He has slept though the past two nights, so I am hoping this is a trend and will allow me to rest up for these busy, crawling days ahead.
I was just looking at my blog settings and saw that it was set so only registered people could leave comments...sorry about that. Now it is open to everyone.

These ordinary days
Even though it takes me forever to decide on photos, I am loving the fact that I can update everyone without having to write much. Here's how we've been spending the last couple of weeks (besides still unpacking!):
I wouldn't say Zach is crawling just yet, but he is scooting around pretty well...most of the time. He still gets frustrated when he's tired or isn't getting to where he wants to go!

This was just me enjoying my breakfast and playing around with the new camera.

The foam play mat that we got (finally!) is great, but more often than not he just scoots himself right off of it. He enjoys backing under tables, the pack n play, etc.

We have gone for some walks; the area where we live is an interesting mix of subdivisions and farm land. Horses go up and down our street regularly.

We got Zachary into his new car seat. He seems to like it, though when he falls asleep his head flops around. We may still need to adjust the angle a little bit. I think the seat will be more comfortable for him when he is a year old and we can face him forward.

Some neighbors came over to introduce themselves and brought us a beautiful plant. They are a French-speaking couple who live across the street, and they said they had just gotten back from holiday in Las Vegas and California.

Mostly we are living sort of ordinary days, just staying home and spending time together. Not much is going on at work for Frank, so he has even been able to come home early sometimes.

Height and weight
Nothing new going on really, but I thought I'd share Zachary's current height and weight. At almost 9 months he is 22 lbs. and 29.5 inches. He seems a least a little heavier than that, but that's probably because he's so wiggly. Frank is gonna install the big boy car seat any day now...

I've been tagged (what the heck?...)
It seems that I have been drawn into a blogging game of sorts... I am definitely one of those people who throw away chain letters and delete pass-this-on e-mails immediately, but for a friend like Jen I will admit that I'm tagged and blog accordingly.
Rules:
1. Link to the person who tagged you (um, I need help with this one)http://jenmblogs.blogspot.com/
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Write 6 random things about yourself
4. Tag 6 people at the end of your post and link to them (thank goodness Jen exempted my from this one!)
5. Let each person you have tagged know by leaving a comment on their blog
6. Let the tagger know when your entry is posted.
My Random Facts:
1. My favorite author is Agatha Christie, and my favorite fictional character is her Hercule Poirot, who happens to be Belgian.
2. I think I've always been interested in design. Art and crafts, photography, and homekeeping are my ways of practicing it now, but even as a kid I loved to rearrange the furniture in my bedroom and stuff like that. I even came up with this plan to sew curtains for my Girl Scout camp cabin (never happened, but...). My sister Katie and I shared a room as kids, and when we cleaned our room she would arrange items by leaning them against the wall. It annoyed me because it just didn't look good to me.
3. I'm right-handed and wear my watch on my right wrist. I didn't realize that this is abnormal until college.
4. I finally got out my new Nikon D80 yesterday and took some photos of Zachary. Nothing blogworthy just yet.
5. I would love to take up yoga again. Frank and I got into it in Virginia because the base gym was really nice and they had a great class offering. I like the feeling of getting a good workout without sweating. I think about getting out the ol' yoga mat when I see Zach getting into a near-perfect downward dog pose when he's trying to crawl.
6. A goal of mine for the next year or two (before another baby?) is to actually put together the wedding scrapbook that I have been meaning to do. We have a traditional album (left in the States for safekeeping), but I want to create something with all the memorabilia, pretty wrapping paper, and extra photos I have. I've even contacted my photographer recently to see if I can buy the negatives or scans of them so I can use some of my fave professional shots.
Now you know a little bit more about me, and I guess that's the whole point!

Who doesn't love a babbling baby?
While Frank and I have been so busy with all the details of getting settled, Zachary has been quite busy himself. It seems like he's doing something new every single day! I guess that's the way with babies... We thought we would highlight some of the latest events for you:

With the laptop being our only source of contact and entertainment, Zach has really started to notice how we value it...and he wants some time on it too!

Just a little busy lately...
Just a quick "hi" and note that our household goods arrived today and seemingly everything survived the trip. We are busily unpacking and looking forward to hopefully buying our TV this weekend. I promise to post photos/videos of Zach and all his new tricks very soon!
For a sample of some "Euro-Pop" all over the radio here, check out the below song...

Is this in the states yet? Or is it just too weird?
