Week 24: Cub scout day camp

Cub scout day camp! This consumed our whole week (more than I thought it would, really), but Zach really loved it. We dropped him off at the park each morning at 8:30, then some of the days we stayed so Gabe and Charlotte could play on the playground. It was hot and muggy (and sometimes rainy) and there was way too much time spent putting on sunscreen. And it seemed like by the time we got home, ate, and rested a little it was time to pack snacks for the car and pick him up (3:30ish). As you could guess, Gabe was less than thrilled with most of the coming and going, and Charlotte loved it. She very nearly got out of the park with a whole "family" of (dead) cicadas. She is not afraid of picking up bugs, which is just hilarious, except to Gabe when she follows him around trying to show them to him!

For a few weeks we'd been telling the boys we'd let them have a camp out in the basement with Charlotte. They did their chores, and we set up the tent Saturday evening. We knew it would probably take them awhile to get to sleep, with all the playing and the sun streaming in down there, and it did. Eventually they all conked out. What we did not expect was that they'd wake up at two in the morning and come up and watch TV. I'm not sure exactly how everything happened, but when Charlotte knocked on our door at four o'clock I just stuck her in bed with us. So Father's Day morning was a little chaotic and sleepy.
