The mamas and the dadas
Exciting news from today: our couch arrived :) Early, before the sun was even up. As I'm sure future photos will show, it is a sofa-bed, so even more room for those of you making the trip sometime.

I finally got these videos up. Typical Zachary lately. Enjoy!

Another reason
Shortly after I posted yesterday, I had Zachary on my lap while talking to Jen on Skype. He took my finger and stuck it in his mouth, which has become pretty common, except this time I felt something. The sharp little edge of a tooth, just poking through his bottom gum in the front. The kid managed to get his first cold and his first tooth at the same time.

We've got colds, but hey, now we've got curtains!
I've been feeling really crummy the last few days, asking myself "Why is it taking so much time and effort to get settled over here?" and "Why did Zach start getting really clingy and crabby right when I came down with this cold?" Well, I think he's probably got the same bug (not an actual bug this time, thank goodness) that Frank and I have, but the two of them are a couple days behind me with their symptoms. So I guess we have all been feeling kinda crummy, and still feeling like we are living in a fishbowl with the all the huge windows in our living room. But Frank came home yesterday with a big box--our curtains finally arrived!!! I do promise some pictures when I get them up.

Trying to figure out Blogger
Today I am procrastinating on cleaning and taking advantage of a little one's nap time to get on the computer.
I am trying to see if there is a way to put photos side by side. Apparently only if you make them small? Anyway, here's a pic of me as a baby next to one of Zach at 6 months. Will try to find one of Frank and see if I can fit 3 photos across.

Our weekend: Belgian Beer Paradise and a story about Zach
We are lucky to have already found some good friends among Frank's coworkers. Saturday we took the metro downtown to hang out with some of them at a beerfest that turned out to be a lot of fun. Crowded and slightly rainy, but fun. Even Frank tried some beers! There was music...the only thing missing was food. We solved that by getting some real Belgian frites (fries) on our way back home. Man, they were hot, greasy, and oh-so-good!

Now this story about Zachary is being told by Frank...
So I tried to give Beth a little break from Monkey-Wrangling by taking Zach downstairs with me Sunday morning and left her to try and get some sleep. After playing around for a while on the floor, he started getting fussy. I went into the kitchen to make him a bottle of formula, hoping that hunger was cause of the fussiness. I walked into the kitchen and Zach crawled in after me. I made a bottle of formula. As I was getting ready to shake up the bottle, I saw Zach sitting on the floor making a funny face. It was a combination of his standard chewing motion (very familiar to anyone who has seen him eat a puff) and a "what the heck is this" look in his eyes that he gets when he tries new food, especially food that he does not particularly like. Well, I hoped beyond hope that he had managed to get hold of some small piece of trash. Maybe a dust bunny. Maybe a small piece of paper or plastic. I had two thoughts. Number one, please God don't let him choke on anything. Number two, please God, let him have found a small piece of trash. I picked him up but couldn't see inside his mouth. With no other options, I hooked a finger and swept out the inside of his mouth. I came out with something on my finger.
It was wet. It was brown.
IT. WAS. STILL. MOVING.
I think I'm gonna be sick...
OK, it's Beth again. I am really glad I wasn't in the room for that one.
