We had the rare opportunity to be visited by friends twice in the first week of August. Abby came down from staying with her mom for a few days, and then Jen+kids came for a few days later in the week. With Abby we hung out at the house, took Charlotte to swim lessons, and completed 4 puzzles (mostly her and Zach) in 2.5 days. I helped Gabe make a drink recipe of lemonade with watermelon ice cubes. We pureed, strained, and froze the watermelon juice, and the drinks were very good! We were sad for Abby to leave, but Jen and most of her kids came the very next day. We spent time catching up and taking the kids to swim and climb.
The second week of August was our first time this summer without swim practice, house guests, appointments, or camping. We weren't sure what to do! It was nice to stay inside during the too hot and/or too rainy weather. We caught up on some cleaning and organizing tasks and went to the pool a couple times. The only new thing that happened was Gabe canoeing and kayaking for the first time. The boys met at a nearby lake for their Boy Scout meeting, and he reluctantly attempted getting out on the water with his friends. He liked it so much that a couple days later he asked if he could get his own kayak!
