2020 weeks 30-32: Working and playing

The past few weeks have been an odd mix of downtime, appointments, working/planning for house projects, and even a few outdoor get-togethers with friends.

The kids went for eye exams, and the boys ordered new glasses (probably next year for Charlotte). Charlotte has graduated to yearly GI doctor appointments because she is growing and doing well--she gained an inch and three pounds in the last five months.

We had a visit with our friends to look at their Ikea loft bed. We decided to order them for the boys so they can have bigger desks and more room to stay organized during the school year. At the end of July when we ordered the beds/desks it was looking like remote learning for the first nine weeks, but they keep changing the plan. Either way, by the end of September they should have nice little work areas and more bookshelves, because we never seem to have enough bookshelves. And they are excited about having roll-y desk chairs.

We cleaned and stained/sealed the deck; well, it is mostly completed. It didn't get 100% clean, and the stain color is a bit orangier than we expected, but it is protected and looks pretty good. I still need to do around the outside of the top and the railings on the steps.

Playing Animal Crossing is still exciting for the kids, as is Minecraft Dungeons for Frank and Gabe, and Charlotte is on a Pokemon kick. Zach is working on coding his own video game. I've mostly been reading during any free time (not much), playing Wordsmith with Frank and Lisa, or checking Facebook for new information about school re-opening plans.

We had a visit with friends to swim in their pool and hope to go back in the next few weeks before school starts. Zach also went to a birthday party where they kayaked and rode paddle boards in the lake.

We have a few more fun things planned for August. But then I hope we settle into some kind of routine when school starts September 8th!
