Week 18: Gabriel

Gabe helped me choose some of his artwork to post this week. And he loved this photo I took of him playing with a rocket at our friends' house over the weekend.

And apparently that's all the time I have. He's bugging me to go play with him, even though as usual I don't understand the game he's made up, I'm always doing it wrong, and I don't have the energy to crawl all over the room with him. But I can't resist seeing what he's going to come up with next.

Week 17: Currently the kids

Currently Zachary is counting down the days until the end of the school year. He's making lots of art, including a Happy Earth Day sign he was very proud of, and we are discussing ways to conserve the Earth's resources. He is working on some stitching projects I got for him (I got tired of turning him down on teaching him how to sew). He is excelling at math, reading, and writing at school. He is learning how to play marbles in gym class and was able to buy his own bag/marbles/shooters to practice at home, which was the highlight of his week.

Currently Charlotte is learning how to get those yummy puffs from the tray to her mouth, with varying success. She still loves her butternut squash, though she's up to eating a whole banana in one sitting so that's possibly her favorite now. She still rejects green beans, peas, and carrots, but we are trying. She is going to bed much more easily now, but we are still struggling to get her to go back to sleep and not expect to be fed when she wakes up every few hours. Some days she is content to sit on the floor or in the saucer and play for quite awhile, even alone in the living room...she likes having the whole bin of Little People in reach. She doesn't have any teeth yet.

Currently Gabriel is getting harder and harder to keep up with, though he still naps for 2-3 hours every afternoon and doesn't fight it at all. He is probably making more art than Zach at this point, especially loving the washable markers and my paper punches. He is excited to walk up to the bus stop to get Zach, and point out the really big dandelions. He has made a rule of no singing in the house (we've never known why but it really bugs him), and if you sing, which we like to do to Charlotte, he says "You're fired!" It has happened a few times that he's been humming the Star Wars theme and I point out that he's doing it, he says "I'm fired!" I'm guessing the "firing" is referring to something on Spongebob, as everything seems to be these days. Ah, Gabe is our little comedian.

Week 16: aka "the lost week"

Happy Easter, everyone! And before the week gets away from me, like I'm sure it will, here are some pictures from our week (but mostly Easter).

The joy of a new mug.

Snow on April 15th.

Goodbye, three-year-old phones. Hello Galaxy S5's.

Charlotte received bibs and books from the Easter Bunny.

The boys received raisins, gardening gloves, flower seeds, and clues to a treasure hunt.
The treasure turned out to be Spongebob Lego sets.

And the Easter Bunny left tons of eggs in the backyard which the boys were very excited to collect.

Week 15: Fairies, dragons, and a monkey

(Tuesday) We had a wonderful weekend with friends (and a couple hiccups), and I'm trying to get back on track this week...hope to post some photos soon!

(Saturday) Okay, so when I wrote 'get back on track' I just meant unpacking etc, not getting sidelined by a huge cold. Charlotte, Frank and I got it the worst and are just now starting to feel better. But here are some pictures from last weekend when we attended Maggie and Ben's birthday party. The unfortunate part of the trip was that Zach got a couple of deep splinters in his foot from running on the deck, and it was an ordeal to get them removed at urgent care. Luckily he made it back at the start of the party, and his foot is healing nicely (and Frank now knows where the nearest urgent care is for when we need it again!). The boys got to wear viking armor and the girls got fairy wings, though Gabe remained very unimpressed while all the other kids were there. He perked up later when the clown made him an adorable one-of-a-kind monkey balloon, while all the others got dragons or swords. Charlotte had fun hanging out with girls. I felt like it was a good short trip that didn't take me too long to plan/pack for, like we are starting to get comfortable with traveling with three kids...we'll see how our next trip goes. But we could do without another trip to urgent care, definitely (*going to look up where the closest one is to our next travel destination)!

Week 14: The big and little stuff

Charlotte wears a sleep sack...she still likes to be sort of swaddled.

Zach tied his shoe really well by himself for the first time :)

Waiting for the bus. Zach is proud of the fact that he can open and close the door to get out by himself.

Crammed in and being goofy. We are getting ready to switch out the infant seat for a convertible seat.

The pile of works by Gabe is growing and growing...

She's seeing even more of the world from her stroller now.

Brown Monkey + circular baby blocks = Princess Monkey.

The (first) Great Toy Reorganization of 2014 is complete. More toys for Charlotte in the living room, less toys for the boys to make a mess with in their room, and some stored away. Emily, would Nathan like a collection of Chuck the Dump Truck and friends?

Growing up too fast. Next thing you know she'll want chips and salsa.
