Painting the nursery

This was our focus for the last couple of weeks, and the boys were our audience. And then they helped me bring stuff back in and made a fort with the diapers and wipes. Next up, going through all the bags of clothes from Jen and Andy...

Good tiring fun

I guess we had so much going on last week that there was no time for pictures. It was just the usual: haircuts, doctor appointment for me, shopping, paying bills, laundry, Horton Hears a Who at the theater, trying to nap, and endless "Find something to do!!!" We finally bought paint and tools, so I hope to do that this week. Also, the boys had not one, but two, play dates, making things seem a little chaotic too. We had friends from down the street over a few days ago, then last night we had dinner with some other friends of ours at their house. The only photos I have to share are ones of me at 31 weeks now. My doctor confirmed what I suspected, that I am measuring a little small but still within normal, which doesn't bother me one bit. Especially since I still have two months to go...

More of the same

Trying to keep the boys happy, trying to get stuff done around the house, trying to rest, that's about all we've been doing. We had our weekly movie day, took the occasional nap, and the boys are enjoying a new computer game. It's Lego Batman and they're hooked, so much so that they agree to clean their room or the living room completely before they get to play (Zach is better about this than Gabe). They are pretty funny when they're playing. Zach calls for Daddy every five seconds to help him get through the levels (it's for age 10, so...), and Gabe doesn't care and just likes pushing buttons. I refuse to learn anything about the game so I don't have to help them and they can only play when Frank is home :)

It's a good feeling to get all the boys clothes sorted by size. Zach proudly matched and lined up all the shoes for me. Now they are all bagged up, and soon the baby furniture will move into the guest room while we paint. I realize that the purple isn't really bad, it's just not what I would have chosen. I'm leaning towards one of the two colors on the top right.

It seems like it's been rainy a lot, and the boys haven't spent too much time outside. At least temps are lower for now. They were eager to draw on the newly sealed driveway though.

I took them out to Starbucks and to run some errands Sunday morning so Frank could have a couple hours of quiet time on Father's Day. It was the least I could do.

Probably the most exciting thing that happened last week was meeting some of our neighbors. We went to a party for one of Zach's pre-K classmates, and he saw his best friend there. Frank and I met his parents, and after chatting for a bit we all realized that they live two doors down from us! We knew the house had sold last fall but hadn't met the new owners. Also, Zach's friend has a little brother and an infant sister. He's been bugging me every day to go over there, so I'm going to try to set up something for the weekend. But crazy, huh?

Summertime stuff

So I think most days last week were okay...we are getting into our routines and I've figured out some ways to handle all the fighting. One way that's been working is to let Zach watch The Magic School Bus on Netflix like he wants while Gabe plays Nintendo DS (thanks again, Emily!). We had some fun activities planned, like the first of a summer kids movie series and planting flowers. We also had errands and doctors appointments for me, which they didn't necessarily like but that broke up the days some. Shopping, planting, etc. just about exhausted me this weekend but the kids had fun...we even got them a sprinkler. I got to enjoy time at Starbucks on Sunday morning, and we've picked out some paint chips for the nursery and hope to pick up actual supplies next weekend. Not much time left; I'll be 30 weeks along in a few days. She's kicking lots, and I've gotten to the "what is that body part sticking out?" phase--she feels huge in there. You can be sure I'll be packed for the hospital within a few weeks :)

Oh, they made a good mess, indeed.

The end result.

We've made them start bringing chairs in to talk to people on skype, and they have to sit, otherwise it is too crazy!

The old table, and their basement art area.
