@ 36 weeks

Okay, let me back up. At almost 35 weeks, right after Jen and Mia left, I was a nesting machine. I was cleaning, organizing, planning, shopping, and I had an extreme amount of energy...Frank got so nervous that I was going into labor. But it's a good thing I got all that stuff done, because now I am exhausted and have to keep laying down when I feel contractions coming on (though no signs of real labor just yet).

I had another ultrasound on the 26th. My doctor wanted another check and to make sure baby is not breech. She's not; she's head down, and we were happy to have 100% confirmation that she really is a girl :) Hard to see anything in that photo, but the woman assured me that there is no doubt. We've also got a scary looking picture of her face and then one of her profile. She's got at least one hand up by her chin. She weighs just over 6 pounds right now.

Bags are packed for me and the boys, and we have two families on call to help us out. We installed the baby seat bases in our cars, and of course everything fits just fine in the Volvo but it's a bit of a squeeze in my car. It should be fine, though.

Laundry, laundry and more laundry.

More talk/questions about "when is the baby going to come out of there?" We've successfully avoided answering the "how" questions. I don't remember how we got on the subject of diapering, but they wanted to practice on their monkeys.

Me being tired has meant a few more fast food runs. The boys are quite okay with that.

We hit Dairy Queen before going to the pool the other night. Zach was so excited to order a sundae with chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, AND sprinkles.

Playing at home:

I started reading a chapter book to them at bedtime. It's about science and the universe, so Zach is totally into it and Gabe's about 50% on a good night.

While we are thrilled that the boys seem to be getting along better and playing together more this summer, we never know what we'll find when we check on them at night. Either they have decided to both camp out on the floor or together in one of the beds. And sometimes it is hard to wake them up and get them settled again, especially for me being so pregnant and Frank with his back. Crazy monkeys...

Busy week

I'm happy to say that I don't anticipate any weeks being as busy as the last until baby comes. It just got to the point where it was a little ridiculous: Frank got a tooth pulled, the rest of us had dental cleanings, visit to eye place for new glasses, tour of labor and delivery at the hospital, library, doctor appointments, grocery shopping, play dates, a haircut, a birthday party at the pool, a day of cleaning, Jen and Mia came for the weekend, and we had a neighborhood block party.

Brotherly love in the Chick-Fil-A play area.

The neatest little splash zone at our pool...so cool that Gabe doesn't ever want to come out and go in the actual pool.

Messy, messy birthday cupcakes.

Messy, extremely messy room. The worst I've ever seen it. We finally got it straightened out and will be working on daily cleaning from now on.

The block party was fun. Good food, a couple of bouncy houses, and we got to talk to lots of people we hadn't met before. It is just crazy how many young families are in our neighborhood--so many preschool/elementary boys and baby/toddler girls, we fit right in.

Zach practicing rocking a sister to sleep.

We all went to the park on Sunday to get some photos, and the boys were less than thrilled, as you can see.

And some with the kids were just hilarious...

We did get a handful of shots that I really like, and that's all we need, right? These are definitely my best belly photos so far (34 weeks)...thanks, Jen! I guess we should have been coming to the park every weekend :)

Besides baby

The stuff we're doing besides getting ready for the baby: watching the flowers grow, taking a friend's Lightning McQueen for a spin, going to the movies, playing Super Mario Bros, going to the park, and making huge toy messes then taking a week or more to clean them up. I need to get pics of that last one :)
What we planted

Just a few weeks later

Daddy took a day off to spend with us and see The Smurfs.
