September, first half: band and more band

The month started with a big festival weekend plus a home football game. Frank and I went to the Italian Heritage Festival for the first time to watch Zach's first jazz band performance. He also performed at the game that evening, and the parade happened the next day. That was the end of a very busy week with the middle school having performed at a game that Wednesday. The next week Charlotte started dance (taking tap this year), and we went mini-golfing and out for ice cream with the Girl Scouts. Then the boys got covid, and there was supposed to be a band show that weekend, but thankfully it got rained out.

Luckily the boys recovered quickly because then we had another busy band week. Charlotte got a flute! On Friday Gabe and the rest of the eighth graders performed with the high school band at the football game. The next day I chaperoned the high school band at a parade and field show competition. It was a long day, there was a lot of waiting around, but they performed well, and we all had fun. Then on the ride home my throat became super scratchy and the next day I woke up to covid. To be continued!

August: Back to school and stuff

Adventures in August: Charlotte pool birthday party, Zach band camp and performances, Gabe band camp and performances, elementary open house, first day of school, new glasses, Charlotte's actual birthday! Having two older band students means summer was really over at the end of July. Zach has put in an extraordinary amount of work between his field show, parade music, and jazz band music practices. They have already had a handful of performances and the season has barely begun. Gabe participated in the middle school band camp, and they have played at a football game. Charlotte enjoyed her birthday month and is happy to be back at school with friends. She discovered that she likes to wear overalls, and she picked out blue glasses this year to replace her pink ones. She will start tap dance classes soon.
