2021: May, second half

The end of the school year is usually pretty busy, and this year was no exception even though some things were modified for covid. We all attended a state park lake boat tour with Charlotte's Girl Scout troop. Frank and I went to Zach's band concert (see if you can find him in the photo!). Then the Boy Scouts set off for the mountains, where they enjoyed a nice cabin, Gabe set up and slept in his own tent, and Zach spent one day/night backpacking with some of the older scouts.

The boys got their computers set up and are enjoying having a little more independence. Gabe was celebrated at a drive-thru 5th grade graduation at the school. And Charlotte got another use out of her Rainbow Dash costume for book character day at school.

We made up for some lost weekend time by watching three Marvel movies on Memorial Day weekend: Dr. Strange, Guardians 2, and Spiderman: Homecoming, the one Zach was really looking forward to. At this rate we'll have watched them all before any more are released. We also spent some time putting together more Ikea; the wardrobe is very nearly finished.

2021: May, first half

So far this month:

The bedroom project is nearing completion. Since January, we've rearranged furniture (a few times), gotten a new bed and mattress, and have been to Ikea twice (with a third trip planned). This month we moved into Charlotte's room for a week, and I painted our room. It was a busy day moving everything back in to so I could wake up on Mother's Day in my own bed. The kids were looking forward to hanging out with me in the new king size bed. Gabe and Charlotte helped me with the Ikea builds. After my breakfast, Frank and I got right back to work putting together my wardrobe.

The boys are getting computers for their rooms, but they'll take a few more weeks to arrive. That hasn't stopped them from enjoying their monitors (with phones) though.

Gabe has chosen to play the clarinet next year in band, which was a complete surprise (that he wanted to do band at all)! We met with the middle school band teacher, and after trying the trumpet he liked clarinet better. He was so excited to tell everyone and get Frank's clarinet, which he practiced the whole first weekend and then showed off his new skills on Skype. Also, Frank and I tried Zach's trombone. It was hard and I don't think Zach thought it sounded very good!
