2020 week 51: Gingerbread houses

For some reason Blogger wants my photos to be out of order, no matter what I do. Oh well. We've got Ally the Elf and Reindeer Red shenanigans, Charlotte doing a Zoom dance class in the basement, the boys helping out with Wreaths Across America at our local cemetery, and a bunch of shots of the kids' gingerbread houses. Their favorite part, by far, was putting on the powdered sugar snow.

2020 week 50: More of the elf

Not much is new around here. The kids were excited about in-person school, but it only lasted two days until the county decided to go remote until further notice (we're hoping after Christmas, but who knows). I've been consumed by the gift making/buying/ordering of mid-December, the kids are super tired of doing remote schoolwork, and Frank's still trying to work from home most days with way too much noise.

I have been documenting our elf's movements and not much else. We stuck a few more ornaments on the tree and put the rest away, making me realize that we have enough for about 5 trees. Gingerbread house photos coming soon. On Animal Crossing, Gabe and Charlotte were excited to build snowmen, as we have not had any more actual snow here. We still Skype with Lisa multiple times a week to visit and play the game.

Charlotte took the photo of me and Frank on his birthday :)

2020 week 49: Home for the holiday season

Photos from our post-Disney week here. We returned from Florida, and on the second day of the drive I sat in the back seat with Charlotte to help with school work. A couple days after we got home it snowed. School was remote for the week so there was plenty of time to play outside (for the two who enjoy it). We've had the fireplace on almost continuously and got the tree up. Zach tried his hand at putting on the lights, which I was excited about because it's always the most tedious job. Charlotte was excited about the It's a Small World ornament (and annoyed her brothers with the music) and all the baby's first Christmas ornaments, that she grouped together in a spot on the tree. We had few commitments last week, which was a nice break. Zach was invited to be one of a few Boy Scouts to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at our town tree-lighting. Usually most of the town is there in person, but this year it was featured on the news/Facebook only, including a short tribute by Dean Cain. He was shooting part of a movie that night (one article here) and the boys had a photo with him. I don't know the exact context, but Zach apparently told him that his favorite superhero is Spider-Man :)

And Ally the Elf is back at our house. She has been pretty low-key...just the way I like it, though Zach made her a "prank kit" that includes a grappling hook she used to climb above the pantry. She tried to get the kids to watch "A Very Monkey Christmas" for old times sake, but they turned it down. They are too old for the kid movies, but it was worth a shot!
