Week 26: Gardening, swimming, and making forts

The work is happening: in our flower bed out front. I was tired of looking at dead bushes and all those river rocks. Weather and the timing of other activities have not afforded me the opportunity to complete things as quickly as I first thought (always, right?) Eventually we'll have a bunch of new perennials sitting in a mulched bed with a new stone edging.

The fun is happening: at swim meets. Aside from the fact that it rained on us at the first two. Zach likes hanging out with swim buddies, the other two like to hang out with non-swimming friends (and us with their parents). There's visiting, playing, eating concession stand food, cheering on swimmers, drawing, and the occasional pokemon card trading.

Not related to anything else, but Charlotte has developed a love of lip gloss.
The adventure is happening: in our basement. They have been building forts/tents/literally sleeping in boxes and on chairs as much as we will let them. Ah, the freedom of summer!

Week 25: Highlights of their summer

It's the same old stuff around here: sleep, eat, clean, entertain the kids. Here are some of their favorites moments from the last week...

Spending their money at the dollar store
watering flowers
picking out gumballs at the mall
watching PBS kids app or a movie in the car
swim meet (we're hoping for better weather this week)
swim practice

learning to float. "Look Mommy, I'm a starfish!"
sometimes getting tired before practice is over
Daddy's work family day. We love the bubble station.

video game trailer
laser tag
making a wax hand

another gymnastics center birthday party for one of Charlotte's friends
We are finally getting back to the movies!

Zach's first swim meet

He loves swimming, and we are so proud of him! He's got a great attitude and is thrilled to be part of this team.
