Zach's new (old) favorite
At Katie's house on Christmas morning I was telling everyone how Zach just loves Chip and Dale lately. Emily brought up "Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers," a show that I had completely forgotten about, and we listened to the theme song online. Well, while using up our Best Buy gift cards in El Paso I came across the motherlode: 27 episodes on DVD for only $15. Needless to say he's been watching and cracking up ever since...

Sunrises
It is absolutely crazy to me that we experienced two consecutive sunrises while in airplanes. Pretty, yes...

...but not the ideal length of a "travel day" with two crazy little monkeys.
Thinking about the sunrises while Zach napped on top of me during the flight, our whole day seemed symbolic of what are lives will be like over the next several months: a series of new beginnings with relatively little rest in between. I'm going to try to focus more on the beauty of these "sunrises" and less on how unprepared we feel for their arrival.

Project 365: Week 50 (can you believe it?)
It's been business/craziness as usual here this week. Christmas cards went out (yay), gifts were ordered and packages went out (double yay), and now we're just dealing with Zach asking about getting Christmas presents every day.
Gabe's artistic medium of choice lately is any milk left in his bottle.

An unexpected view of our kitchen. As much as I love this kitchen for it's great light, I don't really like winter evenings in here--I feel like the whole world can see in.

A rather unappetizing Play-doh ice cream cone from Zach...I guess it's the thought that counts.

Gabe's definitely a climber.

Speaking of kitchens, this is one I liked at IKEA.

Zach in his new tent (also from IKEA).

Project 365: Week 49
Monday, November 29
Just comparing Zach's 2-week prints with his 3-year one. Can you believe he's over 40 inches tall already?

Tuesday, November 30
Snow day, literally. We headed out to daycare, only to turn around because the weather seemed too bad. When Frank got home I couldn't resist Zach's pleas any longer...he had a lot of fun.

Wednesday, December 1
I gave him a fork for the first time to see what he'd do, and I was rewarded with lots of funny faces.

Thursday, December 2
Zach's new love: watercolors (aka playing in water with brushes).

Friday, December 3
On a whim I picked up a package of bubbles from the cereal aisle at the grocery store (4 little Spongebob bottles), and I tell you, they are the best bubbles I've ever had. I can blow a hundred little bubbles from one dip, and they don't leave any drippy mess.

Saturday, December 4
Ever since his birthday, Zach is crazy about Toy Story...I think this photo speaks for itself. Grandma (or somebody) is getting him #3, right?

This was the drive home from shopping, but it's pretty much what all of last week was like. Cold and dreary.

Sunday, December 5
I decided to let Zach try scissors, and he's actually pretty good (with each hand, too), especially if I'm there reminding him where to put his fingers. When I left him is when he put them in his mouth and cut his lip...they've been put away for at least the next couple of days.
